2012 Slack Key Festival

Jan 21-22 Zask Art Gallery, hidden in the private hills of Palos Verdes Penninsula, hosted the 'meet and greet' for this years festival, featuring the Pahinui Hawaiian Band. Cyril Pahinui continues his fathers legacy with Greg Sardinha, Kunia Galdeira, Sonny Lim and family and friends. They took kanikaplila to another dimension, those that attended had a rare and unique treat. The event concluded with drawing the Royal Hawaiian Chess Set winner, Dan Urrere(Center) and the new owners are Mr and Mrs Mike Nosanov( Left and Right). Dan heard the story of Mike Nosanov who once played against Bobby Fisher (World Master Champion Chess Player) and lost. Mike commented that the Royal Hawaiian Chess set: "captures the essence of the classic Staunton proportions in a unique Hawaiian manner".Further," as a chess purist, appreciates the elegant and sensuous appearance and texture of its woods and still being able to play a serious game of chess".Dan decided to give his Royal prize to Mr./Mrs. Mike Nosanov
